Sanjiv is a Consultant in Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care, and Chief Medical Officer at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust (GOSH), the UK’s leading centre for treating sick children, which has the widest range of paediatric specialists under one roof. With the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health, GOSH is the largest centre for paediatric research outside the US and plays a key role in training children’s health specialists, from around the globe, for the future.
During Sanjiv’s tenure as Chief Medical Officer, he has been involved in a number of whole scale organisational transformation projects, the Covid-19 pandemic, is helping to shape delivery of children’s cancer services, and continues to navigate the place of a specialist provider through an ever-changing healthcare landscape. In his time as a healthcare leader, he has developed a reputation for turning around departments, divisions and organisational functions. His current focus is to drive improvements in healthcare safety systems and support the delivery of outstanding quality of care.
Sanjiv is passionate about developing people, is a trained coach, and has held roles in education, training and development, inside and outside of his organisation. He has previously worked as the Director of Medical and Dental Education at GOSH, and transformed the landscape for paediatric education with the inception of the GOSH Learning Academy, a multi professional organisation which has the sole focus of being a provider of outstanding paediatric training.
