Andrew Chukwuemeka Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Medical Director Hammersmith Hospital

Mr Andrew Chukwuemeka is a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. He is Medical Director at Hammersmith Hospital and was previously Clinical Director for Cardiac Sciences (Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery), Lead Clinician for Clinical Governance and Audit in Cardiothoracic Surgery and Director of Postgraduate Training.

He is the Royal College of Surgeons’ Regional Specialty Advisor and serves on the NHS England – Clinical Reference Group for Cardiac Services and as an assessor for the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

In the past he has been Lead Clinician for Clinical Governance and Audit in the Major Trauma Centre at St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, and for the Northwest London Trauma Network. He has also served on the Executive Committee of the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery in the UK and Ireland as Chair of the Cardiac Surgery Committee and on the Medical Technology Advisory Committee at NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence).

He trained in London and has lived in London for all of his adult life.
