
Liz qualified at Nottingham Medical School and undertook SHO and Specialty training in Gastroenterology in North East London. She is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Whipps Cross University Hospital, a Fellow of the RCP and an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at QMUL.
Her interest in education started during house jobs and as an SHO associate college tutor. During specialty training she was the first education fellow at the RCP working on the first curriculum for medical SHO training. She has been RCP Tutor at Whipps Cross as well as TPD and Chair of the TPMG for Core Medical Training in NE London. A pioneer of using simulation for educating medical SHOs she implemented a regional CMT programme including procedural skills, communication skills and innovative full emersion high fidelity simulation for trainees preparing them for medical registrar roles. After being DME at Whipps Cross University Hospital from 2012 to 2018, she was appointed as Deputy Postgraduate Dean at HEE in July 2018. In December 2024 she was appointed as NHSE WTE Interim Local Postgraduate Dean for London. Working with the Lead Dean for Maternity, she also supports the national NHSE maternity and neonatal programme.
Liz has a MD in gastroenterology and an MA in medical education. Her current research interest is in SAS and LEDs doctors’ experiences of appraisal and career guidance.
She has published 17 abstracts, 16 original papers, 3 book chapters and a book.
